McLaren driver Jensen Button is hoping for a repeat performance of last year’s classic Canadian Grand Prix, which he won in the last lap coming from behind, this weekend to give him the much needed points required to stay afloat with his fellow Formula One contenders.

Button, who has just grabbed two points from his last three races, is desperate to end his barren spell, and is keen to repeat his last year’s magic in Montreal.

Even now Button watches it in astonishment, and is still not sure how it happened.

“I know I am going to win but I still don’t know how. It’s close to the feeling you get when you watch the Rocky films,” Button was quoted as saying.

“I am watching the cars go past and then I say, ‘There’s me’, and I am last. Then I win. It is great to watch,” he added.

A repeat, even on a more modest scale, would be more than welcome, since Button has slipped from being the championship leader to seventh in the title chase after three disastrous races.

“It is not going to rain this year but it is always fun watching the good races and last year was definitely a good race. I winced a little on lap six or seven when we crashed into each other, but it was great to watch,” Button said.

He added, “I felt everything in the car that day. A lot of those last laps in the final stint, every corner was on the edge and every corner I felt I could have put the car in the wall. But it was a real buzz. Every moment you are fighting through the field, you are on the edge.”
