West Indies Defeat New Zealand In The Final ODI To Take Series 1-4
Basseterre (Saint Kitts and Nevis): West Indies defeated New Zealand in the fifth and final ODI on Monday by 20 runs to win the series 4-1.
Chasing a target of 242, New Zealand were all out for 221 in 50 overs with Kane Williamson being the top scorer at 69.
Sunil Narine was the chief architect of the Windies win as he took 5-28 in his quote of 10 overs.
West Indies won the toss and chose to bat and had lost three wickets by the ninth over. Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Bravo steered them out of trouble with a 60-run stand for the fourth wicket with the later registering his slowest ever ODI fifty.
In the end, before they were bundled out, Andre Russell (59) struck a quick half-century guiding them to a decent total.
For New Zealand Kyle Mills took 3-40 in 10 overs.
