Federer Targets Winning Seventh Wimbledon Title
London: Tennis ace Roger Federer has expressed the hope of being able to create history by winning the Wimbledon for a record seventh time, equaling legendary Pete Sampras’ stunning feat of a total of seven titles at SW19.
Federer has astonishingly failed to even make the semi-finals at Wimbledon in the past two years, but he is determined to end a run of nine Grand Slams without glory by winning again at the All England Club.
“The past couple of years I have come here talking about my seventh Wimbledon title and equalling the record,” The Daily Star quoted Federer, as saying.
“I wasn’t able to do it but hopefully it will be third time lucky. I hope I can do a bit better than I have the last two times, when I lost in the quarters, but every time I come to Wimbledon, I have high expectations,” he added.
“I have great memories of this place because it is where I won my first-ever Grand Slam. And it is also the place where I won my 15th to get the all-time record,” he said.
