Bol Bachchan is a film where all the characters (over-crowded) are (unsuccessfully) trying to create comedy out of confused situations. Cover-ups, goof-ups gets overbearing after a point.
Films start in Karol Bagh of New Delhi where Abbas Ali played by Abhishek lives with his sister Sania portrayed by Asin. They are left in dire conditions after losing a legal fight for an ancestral property to their relative.
Sashtri Chacha played by Asrani convinces then to move to his village Ranakpur, Rajasthan.
Ajay Devgan plays the character of Prithviraj Raghuvanshi, who is all mighty of the village. He is a person who is always trying to translate Hindi phrases to English. And it becomes annoying after sometime.
(Honesty is the best mutual policy, A brother in need is a sister indeed, Necessity is the mother of Discovery Channel, When elders are getting cozy, younger don't bring nosy, I will make you remember Milk No 6, success is the keyhole to saxophone; every penny discounts; your eardrums are playing drums; boy in armpit, hyper city noise pollution….)
Prachi Desai as Radhika is Prithvi's sister.
Abbas while trying to save a drowning child opens the gate of a temple, which has been locked for years.
Here starts all the problem. When asked who did this, Ravi shastri (Krushna) gives out the name Abhishek Bachchan, as if people realize that it was a Muslim Abbas who broke the temple gate, it could bring an outrage.
Then there are lies after lies to cover up the first lie. Abbas adds to the story, making Abhishek bachchan his twin brother but without moustache. He then bring Zora (Archana) as his mother.
All this over-the-top comedy with not an ounce of subtlety gets boring.
The end ends in a chase with cars, busses, stupid fights and all.
The only thing that has a nice touch in the film is Prithvi's nautanki band who keep reenacting scenes from movies of 1979.
Overall Bol Bachchan is not even close to a sensible comedy... Forget about Hrishida's Golmaal from which it was "inspired".
