Implants Better Than Dentures
The advantages of implants over dentures and bridges were explained to people who attended the special two-day oral health check up conducted at Denty’s Dental Clinic, here on Thursday.
Over 150 persons with various dentures, bridges and oral problems attended the oral health check up camp. Denty’s Dental Clinic Managing Director Shekar Chennupati explained the advantages of implants over dentures. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a dentist places into the jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
Though they seem to be high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighbouring teeth for support.
‘PREVENT BONE LOSS’
Dental implant looks and feels like regular teeth since they are integrated into the structure of the bone. They also prevent bone loss and gum recession that often accompany bridgework and dentures.
Implants do not harm the adjacent teeth and are a long-term benefit to the patient, he added. It is easier for a person with implants to eat and speak because they do not shake like dentures.
Dentists Rajagopal, K.Phanendra Kumar, A.V.Kiran Kumar examined the patients and suggested ways to improve oral health. Patients can get their teeth checked on Friday, the second day of the camp, Dr Rajagopal said.
