Nanis Action Creates Flutter
Gudivada MLA Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao (Nani) created flutter in the district by meeting YSR Congress Party honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma in Hyderabad on Monday.
Reports about Mr. Nani joining the YSRCP have been doing the rounds for quite some time and his photographs appeared on the banners of the YSRCP. The MLA, however, met TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu some time ago and announced that he will not leave the party. He, however, surprised everyone by meeting Ms. Viayamma on Monday.
Mr. Nani has been staying away from the TDP activities for a long time now. The turf war in Krishna district TDP also kept the MLA away from the party affairs and he had been sulking for sometime.
Launching a diatribe, Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao alleged that Mr. Nani backstabbed the party that nurtured his political career. The YSRCP lured him with a ‘package’ to leave the TDP, he alleged. The TDP senior leader and former MP Gadde Rammohan Rao staged a sit in at NTR Circle in the city protesting against Mr. Nani’s decision.
The YSRCP leader P. Gowtham Reddy said it was unfortunate that the TDP district president had alleged that a package was offered to Mr. Nani. “Let the people know how much he earned through his brother, who joined the YSRCP. What package was offered to his brother?” he asked. The YSRCP senior leaders, who are very close to Mr. Nani, said that it was on expected lines. They, however, refrained from commenting when the MLA was joining the party formally. Let it come from the horse’s mouth, they said.
