BJP To Protest Power Tariff Hike
The Delhi BJP will stage demonstrations across the Capital this Friday to protest against the sharp increase in power tariffs announced by the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission on Tuesday. The party plans to collect 10 lakh signatures to demand a rollback of the hike.
At a Press conference here on Wednesday, Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta and Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra said though the DERC had been set up to prevent the private power companies from exploiting the consumers, but the inverse is happening now. “The DERC is becoming the well-wisher of the companies rather than the consumers,” said Mr. Gupta.
