Students Take Their First Lessons In Leadership
At many schools that are part of Newspaper in Education (NIE) programme, the academic year began with investiture ceremonies in which office-bearers of the school cabinet were given responsibilities and opportunities to display their leadership skills.
At National Public School, Indiranagar, Shantamma Gopalakrishna, dean, NPS Group of Schools, administered the oath and pinned badges. M. Raghul was elected school prefect.
At Mirambika School for New Age, J.P. Nagar, Ajit Sabnis, chairman of the institution, was chief guest at the investiture ceremony. At Mitra Academy, Nafeesa Tanveer Ahmed, director, Presidency Group of Institutions, was the chief guest. Mihir Solankar was appointed head boy while Swathi Alse, head girl.
St. Peter’s Day
Bishop Cotton Schools commemorated St. Peter’s Day (the Founder’s Day) on June 28 and 29. While the evensong was held in girls’ school, the main event was held in the boys’ school.
At the programme held in Bishop Cotton Girls’ School, the theme was ‘walk in faith’. The Founder’s Hymn, sung by the entire congregation, evoked a sense of pride and fulfilment. The service ended with a closing prayer and benediction by Rev. Dr. John S. Sadananda.
School principal Lydia Joshua welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests.
Amara Jyothi English School, K.R. Puram, celebrated World Environment Day through various activities. School secretary K.N. Mohan and school principal Saikumari inaugurated the celebrations. Students of Class X visited a slum and planted saplings.
