Mugamoodi Music Review
Banner: UTV Motion Pictures
Production: Ronnie Screwvala
Direction: Mysskin
Star-cast: Jiiva, Narain, Pooja Hegde and others
Music: Krishnakumar

Riding high on success of ‘Yuddham Sei’, director Mysskin is now with a back full-fledged commercial entertainer. ‘Mugamoodi’ is the first South Indian superhero movie that stars Jiiva in lead role while Narain goes for a different stroke playing negative role. Pooja Hegde stars opposite Jiiva in female lead character and the film’s trailer has already grabbed everyone’s eyeballs. Krishnakumar (a) K’, whose debut movie Yuddham Sei won him best laurels for the outstanding works has attempted with a different style this time.

Vaayamudi Summa Iruda

Vocals: Aalap Raju

Mellifluently soothing to your senses. The terms ‘Aalap Raju’ and ‘Melody’ has been inseparable terms. The romantic solo has few lines rendered by Jiiva with guitars in backdrop followed by the chorus with a wonderful orchestration of strings. The song reminiscences of maestro Ilayaraja’s magnetizing romantic number ‘Oyya Pudhu Roatulathaan’ (Meera). Overall, it’s Aalap Raju intensifies the musical composition of K. Listen to the song and nothing can stop you from hearing it over and again. Nevertheless, The song with the guitar version outperforms this one.

Lullaby for Loss Theme

Close your eyes and listen to this theme in silence to experience something new from the young musician. The soulful instrumentation reinvigorates your senses. A prescribed piece of work for the exhausted minds and with visuals, the theme is sure to get it enchanted.

Kudi Vaazhthu

Vocals: Mysskin

Mysskin might have dropped his ideas of placing ‘Yellow saris’ factor in this movie, but doesn’t miss to loose ‘Kannadasan Karaikudi’. A philosophical anthem for the TASMACians…. Mysskin has crooned the track and the tempo remains in slow pace. Again, it’s the visuals with the ambience of boozing hub that might add more tint to the track.

Blue Panther on the prowl theme

The rise of hero and it cannot get better than this. K instantly transits to a new genre of music. With the previous tracks completely running on slow tempo, this one takes a sudden swift to the different arena. It sounds like the signature music is placed at a critical situation when Blue Panther sets out for its hunt.

Maayavi

Vocals: Chinmayi

Well, it looks like K religiously sticks to his own style and cannot shift the paradigms. The usage of strings and orchestral percussions faintly reminds of his background score in previous movie Yuddham Sei. However, Chinmayi makes a clean sweep trenching the feel of pathos into the character. The musical version in flute has been done with a distinct panache.

Cape of Good Hope theme

Nothing seems to be different here as well. The score runs through the same lanes as in Maayavi and Lullaby loss with brass and strings.

Hell Heaven and the Ladder Theme

Simple verdict – It’s thrill time. It is Hollywood composers, who churn out music of such style without adding too much sound.

Come lets fall in love theme

Again, it’s guitars with mild beats with pianos and the strings. So splendid in all parts that relaxes your senses.

Don’t Drive your car with this music on theme

Emblazoning work amongst all theme scores in this complete album. Just as the title implies, it’s an electrifying track with all ingredients to boost up the situations.

Music director K’ has tried his best on making a different attempt. With couple of songs, especially ‘Vaayamudi Summa Iruda’ turning to be the cherry-pick in this album, most of the signature theme will have its establishment only with the visuals. But it’s better if K’ can step out of ‘Yuddham Sei’ pattern and work on different genres.

Verdict: Not Bad
