Director Lingusamy sticks to an unique formula of making movies and theyre purely commercial. While his debut directorial Aanandamwon incredible laurels for being a decorous family melo-drama that focalized on relationships among the family members. However, the director got through an ultimate changeover sweeping over our senses with action packed entertainers. No need of any examples as his movies from Sandakozhi to previous one Paiyaa have proved to be a out and out commercial entertainer.

Here comes Vettai from the same maker that proves to be a mixture of Aanandham, Run and Paiyaa. The film is produced by Lingusamy and his brother Subash Chandra Bose under the banner name of Tirupathi Brothers while UTV Motion Pictures is releasing the movie across globe. The film boasts of an ensemble star-casts Aarya, Madhavan, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul.

Set in backdrops of Tuticorin, the story revolves around two brothers, elder one Thirumoorthy (Madhavan) being an innocent coward while the younger one Guru (Aarya) smashes down anyone, who bullies his brother. Their father is a sincere police officer, who breathes his last unbearable to the sudden trasnfer for taking action against the evil doers in the town. Now Thiru is forced by his brother Guru and fathers friend to take up the same post in the department. Though unwilling at initial stages, Thiru gets into the department and is appaled by the shocking incidents.Unable to handle the baddies Annachi and Maari (two gangsters at loggerheads), he seeks the help of Guru to knock them down secretly. While everyone believes that its Thiru exerting herculean powers, there comes a situation when the truth is discovered.

Now its turn to Thiru to rise and together with Guru, they put an end to the domination of these roughnecks. On the parallel track, the brothers have their own love stories wiht two sisters Elder one Vasanthi (Sameera Reddy) and Jayanthi (Amala Paul).

How do you term Vettai ? Super-cool entertainer. Though there is nothing new about the plot as there have been several movies based on brothers knocking down brothers together, this one is done in engrossing manner. As mentioned earlier, the film is a mix of Lingusamys several movies. The film has a blend of action, comedy, glamour, romance and sentiments.

Director Lingusamy is always illustrious for portraying chocolate boys as mass heroes that ranges from Madhavan in Run to Karthi in Paiyaa. Over here, both Aarya and Madhavan get equal footage. Madhavan might be spotted with funny shades during first half, but his sudden transition into an actio her during second hour will surely win thundering applause in theatres.

Aarya gets maximum action sequences and his sense of humour is worth mentioning. His onscreen chemistry with Amala Paul is cute and sizzling. But we dont get to see more off that sequences between Madhavan and Sameera Reddy. First half with a running length of nearly 80minutes and yet it doesnt scatter your attention. Possibly you would wonder has so much time passed by so soon and it is same with the second hour as well.

There are more mass hero factors and for Madhavan the scene where he says, Dae Enakke Shuttera will send audiences over high fever of excitement. While the action sequences are plenty, Lingusasmy gives equal prominence to humor and romance.

It is not possible to pick any special sequences for illustration on how engaging the film is. Right from the begining till the end, the film keeps us intact. Though the basic plot is revealed even before the title credits, the screenplay is done in a good and entertaining manner.

Yuvan Shankar Rajas songs are completely disappointing and the background score works better at places. Action sequences are superb. costumes for Maddy and Aarya are cool while the costumer could have designed it better for Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul as the traditional costumes doesnt suit them well.

There are no big minuses in the film and Vettai is sure to attract everyone in spite of having a big contender Nanban on race.

Verdict: Dont miss this cool entertainer.
